I practice as an out of network provider, on a "fee for service" basis, meaning payment is due at the time of each visit. Payment may be in the form of cash, check, or credit card. I offer detailed receipts that you may forward to your insurance company, in hopes that you may be reimbursed for part or all of your costs for seeing an out of network provider. I recommend that you contact your insurance company prior to your first visit, to familiarize yourself with your out of network benefits.
Your first appointment will be 60-80 minutes. During this visit, we establish a connection as I learn about your past experiences, current reality, and future hopes. A thorough psychiatric evaluation is performed over one to two appointments. This ensures that we uncover all potential contributors to your distress and prioritize issues requiring treatment. However, therapeutic interventions are initiated at your first session, and built upon thereafter for the duration of your treatment.
Subsequent visits are generally 30 minutes, but may require more time, depending on your identified treatment requirements. The frequency of sessions and length of treatment are dependent on medication changes, the severity and persistence of your symptoms and concerns, as well as your response to our mutually developed treatment plan.
If you already have a therapist , I am happy to focus on the medical aspect of your treatment. I will work collaboratively with your therapist so that you benefit from a team approach to your care. If you are not currently working with a therapist, I am happy to offer referrals to trusted colleagues. I feel (and the research shows) that clients see faster and more robust improvements in symptoms when working with a therapist and a prescriber.
